Innovation Council regularly publishes about current innovation and trade policy matters and developments. On this page you will find a selection of our published materials, which include original IC research and analysis, innovation stories from our members, and toolkits to support IP management and expand access to IP systems.
At the bottom of this page, you can download an IP Diversity Guide for Organizations. This free Guide, developed by Craig Moss of Ethisphere and Jennifer Brant of Innovation Council, provides insights and guidance for organizations taking action to improve diversity and inclusion in their internal processes for developing, identifying, and managing intellectual property.
Announcing New Analysis about Intellectual Property and Biopharma Innovation
A new series of papers from Innovation Council
and the Intellectual Property Policy Institute:
IP and Biopharma: Separating Myth from Reality
When we think about prescription medicines, we often see just the final product. What remains invisible is the complex journey of problem-solving and innovation that makes it possible to bring these products to patients. This series examines the evidence-based reality of how patents advance biopharmaceutical innovation both before and after new medicines reach the market. The analyses demonstrate that multiple patents filed at different points in time typically reflect genuine scientific solutions that benefit patients and healthcare systems. By separating myth from reality in the biopharma IP space, we aim to support policies that balance innovation and access without sacrificing either. We will update the series regularly, to address additional biopharma IP and innovation topics.

IC - Ethisphere IP Diversity Guide for Organizations
This Guide provides insights and guidance for organizations taking action to improve diversity and inclusion in their internal processes for developing, identifying, and managing intellectual property (IP). Intangible assets drive value across organizations and sectors. It is crucial that everyone contributing to innovation be appropriately recognized and rewarded. Moreover, organizations that leverage the good ideas of all their employees can improve their competitive position, while attracting and retaining top talent. The Guide is based in part on conversations among representatives of companies and tech transfer offices from universities and research institutes, organized jointly by WIPO and Invent Together during the 2021 – 2023 period, across geographic regions.
